Sally McGill Ceramics

We had the pleasure of interviewing Sally this past month:

When did you decide you wanted to be a maker?

"I have been making things since I was a small child. My mother knitted and sewed all our clothes so I was used to having materials around.I loved drawing and painting too".

Who Inspired you?

"I had a very inspiring art teacher at school who taught us lino printing. I have worked as a painter and printmaker but now work exclusively with ceramics. Amongst the many artists I look at for inspiration are Picasso, Paul Klee, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton and Sandra Blow".

What is your chosen medium?

"My chosen medium is porcelain. I mainly slab build. I decorate with underglazes on the raw clay and ceramic pencils once pieces have been bisque fired".
